Kerry-Ann James is a versatile television and film actress, film scholar, curator, and former high-performance track athlete based in Toronto.
As an actress, Kerry-Ann has showcased her talent in notable series such as the Netflix originals Grand Army and Ginny & Georgia, and the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown (IMDb). She has also appeared in the CTV/Bell Media series Children Ruin Everything. Her upcoming projects include independent films Raptus, In the Black, and Does He Belong to Anyone, further demonstrating her range and dedication to her craft.
Beyond acting, Kerry-Ann is an emerging film industry professional, having guest curated the 35th Images Film Festival's Slow Edition, and has organized talks and events at CINSSU and University College. Her academic journey is distinguished by a Master of Arts degree in Cinema and Media Studies from York University, where her research delves into aesthetics, spirituality, and exploring spatiality and temporality in contemporary cinema (BlackPortraitures.info). She also holds an Honors BA in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto, with her scholarly work published in The Undergraduate Journal of American Studies, Camera Stylo: Cinema Studies Undergraduate Journal, and ImagiNATIONS: Undergraduate Journal of Canadian Studies.
In addition to her artistic and academic pursuits, Kerry-Ann has a distinguished background as a high-performance track and field athlete, earning indoor and outdoor national championship titles in Triple Jump and competing in the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials.
